TCI Circle

"Muscular tensions are the armour of character, which impede the free flow of vital energy".

Wilhelm Reich

The Integrative Body Therapy Circle (Espai TCI) is a circle of vital development through movement and somatic awareness; a living space that, through different techniques, facilitates attention, listening and the unblocking of the body; based on the premise that, in our culture, which clearly promotes the development of mental capacities, we need to rediscover this dialogue with the body that we are.

History and Philosophy

At the end of the 19th century, with the work of S. Freud, we witness the birth of psychology and psychotherapy, with a clearly cognitive model. And it was not until the 1930s, in the context of the so-called second force in psychology, behaviourism, that importance began to be given to the body, through relaxation techniques, both by E. Jacobson and J.H. Schultz, who highlighted the importance of deep relaxation to achieve a good deprogramming of learned physical conditioning; with the confidence that deep relaxation will allow us to free ourselves from anxiety, which, as Freud said, is at the origin of all the symptoms of suffering in people.

Another great movement that emerged in the 60s in the USA was the so-called counterculture, a very broad movement where, among other things, many types of therapy blossomed, and also where body approaches appeared through the hand of the great father of Psychosomatic Medicine, Wilhelm Reich, who has given so much fruit through numerous disciples, such as Alexander Lowen who created Bioenergetics, Federico Navarro, Ola Raknes and many others. Clearly influenced by this current of psychotherapy, Integrative Body Therapy appeared in the year 2000, and with it, this great TCI Circle created with the aim of understanding neurosis and human suffering from the perspective of muscular tensions and blockages, which will end up forming patterns of rigidity that receive the name of body armour; This body armour constrains us, hindering the free flow of movement and energy, preventing us from fully connecting with our body, with life, and ultimately, with satisfaction and happiness.

The creation of the Cercle TCI

The Cercle TCI is created from the understanding that our emotional biography is encoded in our anatomy in the form of a binary code of tension/relaxation, and through somatic work in its broadest expression, we access information that is practically inaccessible from any other approach. We propose an approach to conflicts, neurosis or trauma through and from the body, with the intention of connecting with our deepest sensibility.

In our framework, the corporal approach is as important as the psychic; people are a whole, which includes the physical, the cognitive, the emotional, and also the spiritual; and the vocation of this Cercle is to promote attention, listening and looking at these areas where the conflict is expressed through tensions, energetic, muscular, articular, or respiratory blockages, which make up our particular morphology, our way of moving and, therefore, of interacting with the world.

The TCI therapy

The Cercle TCI promotes somatic therapies, especially Integrative Body Therapy, which is an approach created by Antonio Pacheco in 2000, which encompasses the body perspective from the knowledge of the Enneagram and incorporates all the techniques of massage and physical unblocking, especially those that facilitate the relaxation of the muscular armour.

The differential aspect of Cercle TCI is that all our therapeutic proposals are integrative, that is to say, they cover the whole being, using the most avant-garde techniques of somatic and character work.

Espai TCI: understanding and caring for our body

Cercle TCI offers spaces for therapy and self-knowledge, where we can understand and attend to our body, as well as therapeutic supervision sessions. We also offer cycles of body exploration and open workshops, with specialists such as María Saura, and her proposal of somatic experiences of repair, a space to recover potentialities that were covered up and to accompany oneself to open new paths towards health. Evània Reichert and Sérgio Veleda, who offer body deepening workshops from a neo-reichian point of view, and with the most avant-garde techniques of unblocking and acting, and from the approach of Psychomorphology, they favour contact and healing of traumas and deep-rooted blockages. As well as in the prevention of neurosis and work with adolescents. We also have Cherif Chalakani, our expert in approaching life changes who, using the breath, creates new inner spaces, with a gentle and careful approach from which to reach the deepest layers of our being. Another important influence comes initially from Juanjo Albert, who incorporates the integrative vision of the Enneagram map into the bodily approach. And finally, we also have safe environments of presence and awareness where we work on trauma, by Jesús Oliva. At Cercle TCI we approach the treatment of trauma with very special care, following in the footsteps of such renowned authors as Peter Levine, Gabor Mate and Bessel van der Kolk; and with an orientation towards the perinatal, referenced in the work of Mike Boxhall and Ray Castellino.
