The Art of Human Transformation: Antoni Aguilar and his contribution to psychotherapy

Antoni Aguilar has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the UAB, as well as being a Gestalt, body and transpersonal therapist, with more than 30 years of experience in the field of psychotherapy. Disciple of Claudio Naranjo and collaborator in the international SAT programme; he is trained in different psychotherapeutic approaches such as TCI with Antonio Pacheco, Restoration of Relationships with Susana Stroke, NLP, Brief Strategic Therapy of A. Nardone, Clinical Psychotherapy with Juanjo Albert... He is also a Trainer and Supervisor of Gestalt Therapy, Didactic member and Supervisor of the AETG, qualified in Integrative Body Therapy, and expert in Enneagram; as well as a qualified Transpersonal Psychotherapist, and Member of the European Society of Transpersonal Psychotherapy (EUROTAS). His confidence in people's capacity for transformation through therapeutic accompaniment led him to found the Cercle de Consciència, which encompasses the four circles corresponding to the areas in which Antoni Aguilar has specialised: Gestalt, Body, Sexuality and Transpersonal.

He has developed his spiritual orientation by delving into various mystical and contemplative traditions, training as a Vipassana Instructor at the school of Master Dhiravamsa. His interest in meditation led him to specialise in the practice of Zen with Anik Billard for more than two years, to later follow the Dzogchen teachings with master Namkhai Norbu. Lately we find him focusing on the Kriya yoga practice of Paramahansa Yogananda.

Cercle de Consciència: A Journey of Healing and Self-Knowledge

Antoni Aguilar is mainly driven by his spirit as a seeker, and from his extensive clinical practice, both in individual and group therapy, and his intuitive connection with the emotional needs of people, he has the ability to detect the social impulses of the moment; these skills, coupled with his vision, leadership skills and contagious enthusiasm, have allowed him to carry out various avant-garde projects with the creation of the different "Cercles". In 2000 he opened the first centre, dedicated to Gestalt, in Barcelona, having the honour of being sponsored by Claudio Naranjo, subsequently opening schools and training courses in Ibiza, Mallorca, Tarragona, Madrid, Mexico, Colombia and Peru. Trainer and Supervisor, he teaches courses in Spain, as well as in Latin America. Lately he has developed a new vision of Gestalt, taking as a reference the spirit of Claudio Naranjo's Gestalt Viva, and underlining the implementation of the social aspects of the gestalt valuesIn his own words, "if Gestalt is: here, now, and what is happening, how can we not be engaged and active in social change?

Subsequently, he perceived the need for a therapy that would deepen through work with the body in releasing tensions and improving somatic symptoms and incorporated the TCI trainingfounded by Antonio Pacheco, of neo-reichian and bioenergetic inspiration; later extending the proposal to the somatic study of the different enneatypes.

In the field of body therapy, he is also the introducer in Spain of the work of Evania Reichert and Sergio Veleda, recognised masters of the Brazilian Neo-Reichian School who, from their approach to the Prevention of Neurosis and through Psychomorphology, are training a whole generation of Spanish somatic therapists.

Years later, he founded the Sexuality area which brings together current trends and optimises them from a therapeutic and healing perspective that allows us to enjoy sexuality to the full; understanding sexuality as a path of self-knowledge capable of leading to a transcendent experience.

"The broadening of consciousness and the cultivation of social change are the ultimate goals of our therapeutic work".

~Antoni Aguilar.

Finally, his life trajectory led him to observe the background that underlies any type of therapy, a very human longing for connection with the divine, with what transcends us; which led him to found the Transpersonal Circle, which encompasses all the above areas, as well as the meditative aspects of the great traditions of Eastern wisdom.

His own research process led him to learn first-hand about shamanic work, first with the Huichol in Mexico, and later with the Mazatec Indians, and with the Shipibo in the Amazon jungle of Peru. In recent years, he has dedicated himself to the study and research of the transpersonal techniques, which has led him to be a precursor and introducer in Spain of the study and implementation of Transpersonal Psychology, following in the footsteps of his teacher Claudio Naranjo. As a researcher he has specialised in the study and use of different techniques to induce expanded states of consciousness and in the use of potentiating agents as coadjutants in psychotherapy, being one of the main specialists in Transpersonal Psychology and Psychotherapy accompaniment in Spain and Europe, combining the wisdom and knowledge of the different psychological characters, together with the depth of transpersonal work, specialising in the investigation of the healing potential of expanded states of consciousness.

Therapeutic accompaniment and expanded states of consciousness

His current perspective, after more than 30 years of professional experience, has acquired a fully transpersonal perspective. Thus, Antoni Aguilar understands therapy as the art of accompaniment in human transformation; a process of knowledge of the egoic part, to then transcend it and come to feel the connection between human beings, nature and the Sacred - the Universe... or whatever name each one wants to give it. From this conviction, the values that his school promotes are based on an encounter with the most essential part of the human being and with values that until now were not in the forefront, or have been devalued, such as love, empathy, compassion, collaboration, care for the earth, ecology... From this therapeutic framework he transmits, in any of the 4 Cercles, the spiritual values that transcend man, thus opening new possibilities for personal and spiritual growth, with the aim of contributing to the expansion of consciousness and the cultivation of social change.
