We often take it for granted that every negative experience is traumatic and therefore limits or blocks our sexuality. However, the exact same event can have very different effects depending on the person, their stage of life and the resources available.
Not all pain causes trauma, and not all trauma manifests in the same way.
Understanding what trauma is, what emotional wounds are, and how resilience works in every body It is essential when supporting profound processes, both one's own and those of others. Especially if we want to do so with respect, sensitivity, and resources tailored to each person, rather than using «magic formulas».
Take into account pain is not incompatible with reconnecting with pleasant experiences of joy, pleasure and delight. The body remembers what it has lived through, yes, but it also retains the memory of what was nourishing, coherent and vital. And it can experience it all over again. Feeling in harmony with Life is also part of the process.
Knowing what happens in the body and in physiology in the face of traumatic experiences, and recognising one's own resilient resources, gives us clarity to design more honest, effective and careful support proposals, if you are a therapist. And for those who want to deepen their process, it provides much more self-awareness.
This online gathering is an invitation to understand these processes through the body, experience and listening, opening up space both for those who accompany others and for those wishing to delve deeper into their own path in sexuality.
