Circle of Conscience

Who are we?

Antoni Aguilartogether with Montse Coll, founded the Cercle de Consciència in 2000, strongly motivated by the dream of sharing concerns and knowledge with a team of psychotherapists, doctors and psychologists, whose vocation was, and is, to accompany people in their processes of self-knowledge.

The logo we use is Enzo, a Japanese symbol that means circle. The fact that it is open defines our way of understanding this space of nourishment through which, over more than two decades of experience, some 4,000 people have passed, including therapists, professionals, doctors, psychologists, students, ... all of them seekers. Together we have woven together this space of living consciousness, whose spirit has grown with the challenges and knowledge shared.

The binding element has been the influence of our mentor, Claudio Naranjo, this Chilean psychiatrist and great teacher who was at the beginning of Gestalt Therapy with Fritz Perls, as well as a pioneer of the great movement of Transpersonal Psychology.

The word that best defines the Cercle de Consciència, and which represents its deepest vocation, is transformationto accompany personal processes by cultivating self-knowledge, through different approaches: Gestalt, Integrative Body, Sexuality and Transpersonal.

Personal transformation at the Cercle de Consciència (Circle of Conscience)

This accompaniment begins with the Hero's Journey, and it starts when we begin to feel that something is missing, we feel dissatisfied, we have symptoms, anxieties and the presence of suffering in our lives; in short, we are not right with ourselves. And for many people, this represents the beginning of the process, this "thirst for being", this feeling of emptiness, which is often the seed of the seeker. There is a part of us that is not content with the life we are living.

Rediscover your centre

From this great open circle that represents the Circle of Consciousness and channelled through the four training proposals, we first learn to redirect our attention, as the world takes us away from our centre, and it is through the therapeutic process that we broaden our awareness, bringing our attention to those inner places where sometimes the light does not reach. Carl Gustav Jung already named the shadow, these behaviours that we don't want to see in ourselves, or in the way we relate to each other. But there is also a golden shadow, which represents the qualities that are born from all the work of deconditioning; as a result of the transformative process, we find those qualities inherent in the deepest part of the human being, that pearl that we all carry within us.

From larvae to butterflies: The philosophy of change at the Cercle de Consciència

As Paco Peñarrubia says, the therapeutic process has a lot to do with learning to get along with our angels and our demons, through peeling off layers, stripping off the costumes of conditioning, whether infantile, social or cultural, that we use to defend ourselves. The goal is self-realisation, or as Claudio Naranjo said, the ability to transform ourselves from larvae to butterflies; to become winged beings, actualising all our potentials. Or, more simply, to be at ease with oneself, to come home, to feel at ease, to make peace with yourself. To be able to feel and hold those emotions that are most protected at the core of the human heart: vulnerability, tenderness and compassion, thus recovering our primordial innocence. In short, we are talking about love, about being more capable of loving ourselves, others and the environment. Which, apparently does not seem like a very big thing, and in reality it is; because to be at ease with oneself, is to know oneself more or less, to know one's neuroses and to understand oneself; and at the same time, to realise that life is a journey of transformation and learning, that life is a challenge in itself; and that is already a lot.

The formations of Cercle de Consciència

All Cercle de Consciència's training courses aim to bring about individual change in people, and also to make us realise that if we change, the environment changes. This leads us to be aware of the strength that individual changes can bring to society, by contributing with new perspectives to favour the social transformation that is so necessary nowadays. Cercle de Consciència's intention is that the fruit of all these individual changes generates in people an awareness of social involvement; like drops of the same sea, one by one we are only a drop, but together we move the ocean.
